I CLOSE MY EYES

c 2007 Tristan Winter

I dream now Love

            Of jaguar storms,

And of the hour of endless windows

            Torching through the forest night.

I dream now, Love, of the hour,

            When sleep finally sleeps.

And, Love, of when the mirror weeps

            For fear of its own cowardice.

I dream now, Love,

            In this infinite grave.

I wait. I close my eyes.

            I dream; I watch;

I wait for you.  I watch the blackbirds fly.

And I dream now, Love,

            Of the final roll of the spotted bones;

The last clash of desperate lips;

            Splintering hands and scalding flesh.

Thighs ripped open in passion.

I dream now, Love, of the hour,

            Of the secret night: forbidden to all.

Black ocean, black,

            Love, ocean black with

Fish as bright as suns.

And I dream now, Love,

            Of you dreaming me,

As I lick the backs of your eyes.

And I dream now, Love,

            Of the hour the very last

Man and the very last Woman

            Are torn from the earth and slaughtered like jewels.

And I dream now, Love of the very last

            Word

Ever spoken:

            Love.
