GIRL SWALLOWED BY GIRAFFE

c 2007 Tristan Winter

Afternoon of my eye;

Pearl-handled eternity: you

Eternally dancing away,

So that I might better hear

The chains you adore.

Exquisite wind;

Eternally you

Forever flamencoing out of my life.

With my heart like a sparrow

Trapped in your teeth.

            Bicycle screams throughout the night

            Chart the route of your luscious despairs.

            The minutes tell me evil jokes,

            Riddles meant to disassemble us,

            Eternally, like the taste of your face.

Mandarine shadow;

And you, eternally you,

With roses for your shoes,

Forever walking away, so that I might better hear you

Un-naming the animals in my breast.
